Exchange stiffness constant A was determined by a high speed pulse switching technique which generates a fan-shaped magnetic transition layer artificially in a ferromagnetic thin films (18% Fe- 82% Ni films, thickness ranges, 2000 Å to 11000 Å). The fan-shaped magnetic transition layer appeared in the samples of the thickness more than 8000 Å. This spin configuration of the transition layer was calculated by a variational method and best fitted with experiment with A=1.6×10^<-6> erg/cm.
