Proton nttclear rnagnetic resonance has been sttrdied for 'H in the solverat of' strper-pararnagneti cfltrid in whicla fine particles of magnetite, FeaO,t, are strspended as colloid. An optic?rl rnicroscopehas l*een ttsed to observe the filamentary ?rgglorneration of colloidal cltmsters trnder an appliedtnagnetic field, Hg. The filartaeruts are aligned in the direction par?xl1e1 to Hg within a uninute afterthe application of the raaagnetic field of 1 kOe. An average of local rnagnetic fields at the positionsof 'H is antiparallel to the direction of Hc), and its magnittrde depends on the arrangements offilaments. A tentative estirnate of the interacting force lcetween a colloid;tl cltrster and a fiI?tmenthas been done by the meastrreuaaent of the growing velocity of fil?rnaents. The f'orce is estiuaaatedto be an order of 10 " dyne (10 "'N ) trnder Hg of l.lkOe.
