Three cornroounds>orthorhonabic YBaCox0s.s, tetra:onal YBaCox0s.s and YB8.CO2O5.O, havebeen synthesized and tlaeir structtrral, raaagnetic arad electrical properties have been investigated.The strtrcttrres of all three compounds have a C002 -Y(O) -Coax block laxyer sandwiched betweenthe BaO layers. 1VIagnetic and metal-instrlator transitions have beera observed ira ortlaorlaombicYB21.CO2O5.5 wluich has a one-dinuerusional ordering of oxygen atoms along the 6-axis in theY(O) layers. Tetragonal YB0CO2O5.5 atad YBaCoxOs.o, which are both senaiconductive, shoxvtnagnetic transitions. Tlae physical properties of YBaCoxOs;. strongly depend on the strtrcttrreand oxygen content.
