Five glasses of the Agl-Ag_2O-V_2O_5-P_2O_5 system exhibiting mixed electronic-ionic conduction were prepared and irradiated by γ-rays. The structures of the irradiated and unirradiated glasses were studied using density, FT-IR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron spin resonance (ESR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The electrical conductivity (σ), dielectric constant (ε') and dielectric loss (ε") for the irradiated and unirradiated glasses are also investigated over a temperature range between 300-380 K and at a frequency from dc to 10^6 Hz. Both components of ionic σ_i and electronic σ_e conductivities were separated from the total conductivity σ_<tot> = σ_i + σ_e using impedance spectroscopy method. The temperature dependencies of electronic and ionic conductivities as well as corresponding transference numbers were studied. The activation energy values E_e and E_i for both conduction processes were determined. The temperature dependence of ε' showed an increase in ε' with T. Each of ε' and ε" was found to be dependent on the composition of the glass matrix. The effect of both γ-radiation and the framework composition of the glass on the electrical properties have been discussed.
