H-Bond Effect on the Phase Transitions in [NH_<(4-n)>(CH_3)_n]_2HgCl_4 and Related Compounds(Condensed Matter : Structure, Mechanical and Thermal Properties)

The structural instability of the [NH_<4-n>(CH_3)_n]_2HgCl_4 group have been investigated. Consideration of different crystals of this family shows that the H-bonds, obviously, hinder the appearance of incommensurately modulation. The dependence of phase transition sequence from the sizes of cation and anion may be obtained only for crystal with simple cation. The appearance of H-bonds complicates the situation and, leads to gradual disappearance of IC phase in the A_2BX_4 family.
