Using the Painleve-Backlund transformation and a multilinear variable separationapproach, an exact variable separation excitation of the generalthree-dimensional Korteweg de Vries system is derived first. Based on the derived excitation, a new type of solitary wave, i. e., a semifolded localized coherent structure, is constructed.
