The thermoluminescence of ZnS:Cu:Cl phosphors after irradiation by 4.5MeV electrons from a linear accelerator or by γ-rays of Co^<60> was compared with that obtained by near uv light. Three main-peaks appear usually. It was found that the ratio of the green peak height at 120-160°K to one at 190-220°K are little dependent on the kind and intensity of radiation and on the excitation time, while for the blue component, the ratio obtained after excitation by γ-rays or 4.5MeV electrons is smaller than that obtained after uv-excitation. A reduction of the ratio of the blue component to the green one is also observed in the spectra of radio-thermoluminescence of the hexagonal and hexagonal. like phosphors. The results are explained by employing the model on radiation quenching formerly proposed and the nature of tTaps is discussed.
