Non-linear effects are investigated in the excitation of electron-plasma oscillations, by considering a non-linear term in the Boltzmann equation as a perturbation. With the growth of fundamental component, the second and the higher harmonics are generated as forced oscillations. The magnitudes of these components are estimated which give the criteria of validity of linear approximation. Finally the behaviours of excited waves in the limit of large amplitude are described.
