It has been under discussion again how inhabitants manage autonomically to problems in everyday life during the socialization of life. Also, the Japanese rural community has been watched as a foundation of the autonomy. In this situation, it has been demanded to elucidate the meanings of sports activity in life of inhabitants. Nevertheless, works to meet this need have been hardly carried out in the area of sports sociology in Japan. Matumura gave an answer to aforesaid the needs through his monographs which elucidated the local meanings of sports into which inhabitants put. This paper attempts to show, based on the ethnoguraphical results of sports sociology, how the development process of group activities about sports was unfolded through interviewing in Hanawa. Hanawa consists of thirty-two falilies, and is one of the least hamlets in a rural area in the north of Mito city. They have gained many experiences which are autonomous management to probleas in everyday life. People in Hanawa have put sports to use as new "design" for a reorganization of relationship among leading persons of these activities when existing "Ie" relationships is falling off. This case of Hanawa tells us two things as follows. The first, group activities about sports had changed in the scene where reorganization of the least community was supported, from a functionary group of sports. Secondly, in this process, playing sports itself has been actualized in individual relationships past a community.
