The 22nd Annual Convention of the Japanese Educational Psychology was held at National Education Center, Tokyo, from October 29 to 31, 1980, under the auspices of the University of Tokyo. Dr.T.Hidano of the same university acted as the president of the Convention. The total number of participants was 1, 176, including regular, temporary, and student members. The academic program was carried as follows: 1)489(out of 497)individual papers were actually read by regular members in sessions of 7 classified divisions of psychology and in 12 new special sessions. In the newly formed sessions, participants were asked to develop. one specific theme after a presentation of papers. In the former procedure, participants were asked to join the discussion after the presentation of each different theme within the same division. 2)Four symposia were organized by the Convention Committee:Symposium I, "Retardation of Language Development", was chaired by Prof.H.Katori; Symposium II, "Some Ethical Problems Related to the Study of Educational Psychology", was chaired by Prof.H.Kojima; Symposium III, "Development of Statistical Method and Its Application to Education", was chaired by Prof.H.Ikeda and Symposium IV, "Piaget's Theory and Its Perspective", was chaired by Prof.G.Hatano. 3)Two four-hour special sessions were organized by the Research Committee of the Japanese Association of Educational Psychology : One symposium, "Roles of Educational Psychology in Teacher Education Program", was presided by Prof.T.Hidano. And Reports of study on "Language Development and Education" was chaired by Prof.Y.Kosawa. 4)Volunteer members presented 8 symposia which were at first accepted by the Convention Committee. 5)One lecture on "A Trend of Educational Psychology in Poland" was given by Dr.Ida Kurcz of the University of Warsaw. It was seen profitable to share academic exchanges between different countries. Many thanks to all concerned with the Convention. And we greatly appreciated the active part taken by everyone and all in making this convention a success. The abstracts of the presented papers have been published and distributed to the regular members in advance. The summaries of the individual presentation sessions, special sessions and symposium sessions appear in the Annual Reports by the chairmen of these sessions; Further profitable comments are given by different members according to each division.
