This paper elucidates the effects of relocation-induced separation on the family life, and discusses the factors associated with dissimular reactions to the separations. Subjects were the transferees working in private companies apart from their families, including their wives. The major findings were as follows; 1 The stress reactions to members were stronger than to family-relations, and the reactions to parent-children relations proved stronger than to husband-wife relations. Transferees were most affected and children were least in the family members. 2 More than half of husbands and wives felt dissatisfaction with their current lives, but the extent to which family's integrity went down was found to be 3%. 3 The stress reacted to families was related to the family's demographic factors, husbands'satisfaction with their work and physical factors : for example, the distance and the duration of separation. 4 Family integrity was chiefly associated with family's psychological states and subjective experiences.
