Based on the frequency distribution function of individual plant weight and correlations between the functional amount of the individual tree and its weight, we can derive some important ecological values, such as tree density, biomass, mean plant weight, functional quantity of forest stand, generalized mean plant weight and selection coefficient. Among these values, the selection coefficient is the most important because it gives us some theoretical basis for a simplified survey that needs the measurement of function of one plant only, that is, the generalized mean plant.
