1. Male crabs in nature show daily rhythmic activity of crepuscular type. 2. Their activity depends upon illumination and humidity, that is, their activity varies in direct proportion to the difference in the increase of illumination in the morning or to the decrease of illumination in the evening. In the daytime, when sunny and with high temperature and low humidity, they become dull. If cloudy and the degree of humidity rather high, they are active. When rainy, the crabs move actively. That is judged to be because of the surfaces being wet by the rain and to the high humidity. 3. Under bright moonlight, they move actively, but whether because of the high degree of humidity or the bright moonlight could not be determined.
