Significant qualitative and quantitative differences are noted in the morphological features of the populations of Borreria articularis growing in different habitats around Pilani. These morphological differences have probably arisen as adaptations to different ecological niches. A correlation is established between morphological characters evolved and habitat factors. It is also found that the morphological variations shown by the populations of Borreria articularis which are treated here as ecads are habitat-induced and not gene controlled ones. Although the present studies support the concept of BRADSHAW (1959), genetically controlled variation in allopatric populations of B. articularis may not be ruled out.
