With industrialization, the family as an agency of socialization is transformed. The isolation of the nuclear family and the simplification of family structure are the most fundamental aspects of this change. We can see in 'Parsons' family a typical family form of industrialized society, called the traditional family type. Today, as we move towards a post-industrialized society, we are experiencing another fundamental change in the family. Therefore, we should reconsider the socialization theories, many of which were constructed on the basis of the traditional family. In this paper, I will present a number of family types as situations of the socialization process. Making the traditional family type one of them, I will discuss some alternative socialization theories and researchs.
