The onset of chaos is examined by taking a simple concrete model described by a set of ordinary differential equations. Along a pathway of successive bifurcations leading to chaos, a typical change of the (power) spectral profile is studied. Furthermore, it is indicated by evaluating the Lyapunov characteristic exponent that chaos arising from these successive bifurcations are ergodic and mixing. This will strengthen a basis for constructing the statistical mechanics of chaos.
