Theoretical works on the simple diatomic molecules performed by Kotani's group are briefly introduced. As an interestin example of the configurational mixing, calculations on the excited ^2Π_u states of the O_2 molecule are explained. Further, detailed analyses of the fine structure constants of the O_2 molecule in the ground state are given. The mixing of the ^1Σ^+_g state to the ^3Σ^-_g due to the spin-orbit interaction amounts to 1.3×10^<-4>. It is shown that this value can be explained also from the analysis of the g factors, if the relativistic corrections to g are taken into account.
