The lecture contains a survey of nuclear fluiddynamics as derived from the generalized scaling approach. The essential feature is the dynamical distortion of the local Fermi surface which leads to additional restoring forces for the elementary modes. Application to giant resonances resolves previous discrepancies, satisfies two essential quantum mechanical sum rules and leads to detailed predictions for transition densities, flow patterns and strength distributions.
