As is well-known, an U-centre in alkali halide is composed of one electron trapped around a hydrogen atom embedded substitutionally in the crystal. We have worked out theoretically the electronic structure of U-centres by the use of the perturbation method proposed by Prof. T. Muto, and the obtained results have been found to be, quite reasonable, compared with the experiments, in view of the approximate nature involved in our numerical calculations.
