The Vickers hardness of the Cu-Ag alloys that were quenched and then aged was measured aud two peaks were found in the "amount of hardening in 1 hr." vs. ageing temperature curve ; the small peak at 230℃ was interpreted to be caused by "pseudo_-precipitation type" hardening, and the large, one at 400°〜450℃ caused by the "precipitation type" hardening. The Vickers hardness vs. time curves for the samples drawn to 220°〜230℃ and 400°〜475℃ examined in the same way as in the previous report and n in the formula of Austin-Rickett's type was found to be nearly unity for the former and 2.2, for the latter. The results of the bending experiment and the microstructure change observed by Bumm were used for the calculation, which gave almost the same value (1.9〜2.8) for n. The activation energy of the age-hardening was calculated to be 15,000 Cal/Mol in the pseudo-precipitation range and 25,000 Cal/Mol in the precipitation range.
