A large portion of P_2O_5 in Superphosphate which is applied at the sowing time, is stored in the soil till the barley begines to grow vigorously in the Spring, and meantime the moisture contents of the soil containing superphosphate vary according to the amounts of rainfall. Consequently the pot experiments were carried out to asertain how the length of the storage period and the variation of the moisture contents of the soil effect the manurial value of the superphosphate applied to the soil. The following results were obtained : 1. The manurial value of superphosphate, applied to the soil, decreases after the elapse of some time. 2. The manurial value of superphosphate, mixed with the soil, decreases when the mixture is dried more than a certain degree. 3. The manurial value of superphosphate, once decreased by drying, cannot be restored by the readjustment of moisture content of the soil. 4. Drying of the soil previous to the application of superphosphate within the range of this experiments, has no effect on the manurial value of superphosphate which was applied later.
