It is assumed that the relationship between the numbers of adsorption sites and adsorbates might be associated with the conditions under which the Freundlich equation could be applied to adsorption phenomena as an isotherm. We constracted several stochastic models based on the numbers of adsorption sites and adsorbates, and simulated the models using a computer. By using the relationship between the Freundlich isotherm coefficients, log K_F and 1/n, we examined the conditions under which the Freundlich equation could be applied to adsorption phenomena. In the one-dimensional model considered to repeat adsorption and desorption phenomena until equilibrium was reached, the relationship between the Freundlich isotherm coefficients was fulfilled when the number of desorbed adsorbates was fixed for the adsorption sites. In the case of practical experiments, the number of adsorption sites was much larger than the number of adsorbates in the initial solution. Therefore, it was assumed that the difference in the number of adsorption sites did not reflect the results, and emphasis was placed on the difference in the ratio of desorbed adsorbates in practical experiments.
