A model of tri-component exchange chromatographic transport in soil is described. The transport process was divided into two processes : a) change in solution composition by convective-dispersive flow during a minute time, and b) redistribution of cations between solution and exchanger phase according to cation exchange equilibrium. These two processes were computed alternatively with progress of time.A FORTRAN program was constructed for the numerical computation. The transport of K^+ and NH_4^+ through soil previously saturated with Ca^<2+> was investigated by column leaching experiments. The parameters of Kerr-type equations for K^+-Ca^<2+> and NH_4^+-Ca^<2+> exchange were obtained by comparison of experimental and computed ionic distributions through the column. The experimental distribution of each ion in the other columns was well reproduced by the simulation using the model with these parameters.Incomplete validity of the assumption as to the uniformity of CEC and water flow in the soil seemed to cause a little discrepancy between the experimental and computed results.
