The macroscopic patterns developed by the usual methods are so changeable and unstable that sometimes it cannot be ready for photographing, so that the details of macrostructure tend to be missed. To improve the defect the author devised a new process of macro-etching, applying the amalgamation. The surfaces treated by the usual methods are coated with copper deposit by dipping in 4% solution of copper ammonium-chloride, then amalgamated by mercury, and finished by rubbing with soft clothes. The patterns prepared by this process are very durable and especially characterized by the development of fine details of macrostructure.
