The effects of 0.1∿1% P upon the physical, mechanical and chemical properties were experimented. By suitable addition of P, the author observed the following remarkable advantages : 1. Increase of hardness, tensile strength and yield point at room and high temperatures without loss of static ductility. 2. Increase of creep limit at 400∿600℃ 3. Increase of corrosion resistance to water saturated with hydrogen sulphide. 4. Increase of resistance to hydrogen attack at 500℃ under 250∿300 atm. pressure. 5. Improving the tube-drawing property and weldability. These effects were most pronounced at 0.2∿0.5% P. Consldering from the result, the author recommended the following composition for the constructional material for high-temperature and high-pressure chemical industries treating hydrogen such as coal and oil hydrogenation, synthesis of ammonia etc : C<0.15; Si<0.25; Mn0.25∿0.5; P0.2∿0.5; S<0.03; Cu0.1∿0.2; Cr0.8∿1.5; Mo0.2∿0.5%.
