High resolution heat capacity measurements have been carried out to investigate the Sm-A-Sm-C_α^*-Sm-C^* phase transitions of 11OHFBBB1M7 and 11OTBBB1M7. The Sm-C_α^*-Sm-C^* phase transition was found to be weakly first order for both cases. The behaviors of excess heat capacity around the Sm-A-Sm-C_α^* transition are similar to those in MHPOBC-group liquid crystals.
