In this study, we have evaluated the legible range of moving image on TFT-TNLCD, and found that it's restricted within narrow limits compared with CRT, because of slow response of LCD. Furthermore, afterimages have been observed when the moving image speed was more than 1 pixel/frame. By investigating the relation between afterimage and response time of LCD, the target(0.27〜7ms) of response time for afterimage-free has been obtained as a function of the difference of gray scale between the moving image and its background . It is difficult for LCDs with nematic liquid crystals to attain this target if traditional driving methods are used. But the possibility still exists with FLC/AFLC.
