The conjecture that quasars are cosmic balls of trapped right-handed neutrinos is advocated. Their masses are between 10^5÷10^9 solar mass and their luminosity, which is almost mass independent for large masses, is just of the right value of the quasar luminosity. Two models of the neutrino ball formation giving rise to the observed quasar population density are proposed. The first model is based on spontaneous left-right symrnetry violation during inflationary stage in the strictly left-right symmetric theory. In the second one the balls are formed later at t = 10^2-10^3s due to a small explicit symmetry violation. Cosmological and astrophysical implications of the hypothesis are discussed.
