One-particle exchanges of spin J, strongly absorbed by suppressing low partial waves, are explicitly summed from J=1 to ∞ by the Sommerfeld-Watson method. In the resulting high energy elastic (nondiffractive) amplitude, f∝s^<α-1/2>J^^^_0(R√<-t>) , the presence of the Bessel-like function of momentum transfer is wholly due to the absorption. A linear mass trajectory and vanishing widths for the exchanged boson resonances are preferred.
