Pion-Nucleus Scattering at Low and Resonance Energies

A microscopically constructed first-order pion-nuclear optical potential has been supplemented by a phenomenological ρ^2-dependent term which contains two complex free parameters. The latter though energy-dependent are universal over the atomic number of the target nucleus and the charge of the incoming pions. The potential very well reproduces all available (total and elastic differential) pion scattering data for the ^<4>He, ^<6>Li, ^<12>C, ^<16>O, ^<28>Si and ^<40>Ca targets in a broad energy range: 14 MeV-^^<T-^^<250 MeV.
