On the Sine-Gordon S Matrix

A heuristic derivation of the S matrix of the boson sector of the sine-Gordon model is given. It is examined how this S matrix manages to be so simple. It is observed that even though the boson sector of the model is closed, i.e., there are no S matrix elements leading from pure boson initial states to states containing solitons, Landau singularities due to soliton loop diagrams occur in the boson sector S matrix.
