A Unified Lagrangian Formulation for Massive and Massless Tensor Fields

We show that the quantization of both massive and massless free spin two fields can be carried out in a unified way in a general covariant gauge. The massive formulation tends smoothly to massless limit as m^2→0. We obtain covariant commutators which contain the parameter that the gauge specifies. From these commutators and for a particular value of the parameter, it is possible to find the propagator of the ordinary graviton theory.
