Three-particle scattering theory is reexamined on the basis or the wave packet formalism. The cross section defined here is finite for the double scattering, and has a factorized form. Contributions from other than the on-shell double scattering to the cross section become negligibly small in a sharp limit of wave packet state in the momentum space. Furthermore for the outgoing wave function the regular asymptotic behavior r^<5/2> can be obtained even for the double scattering.
