We have found a transition to chaos via type-II intermittency in a laser with a saturable absorber forced by an harmonic external electric field. For some given sets of the parameter values, and using the frequency of the forcing as the control parameter, a limit cycle bifurcates subcritically with a pair of complex Floquet multipliers crossing the unit circle. The chaotic state is characterized by Floquet exponents and power spectra.
