We present a superspace approach to the ten dimensional supergravity theory coupled to supersymmetric Yang-Mills fields proposed by Chapline and Manton. By postulating maximal constraint equations on the system, we derive an on-shell supergravity as a consequence of the forced closure of the Bianchi identities.
