• The dynamics of the two-nucleon absorption of pion in the reaction π^±+A→p+anything at intermediate energies is investigated in the correlated pair model. The process is dominated by pion and ρ-meson exchange following Δ_<33> excitation. The role of the ρ-meson is shown to be crucial in reducing the contribution of pion exchange.
