It is shown that Araki's Van der Waals (VDW)type model used for qualitative explanation of pp elastic scattering at high energies predicts a structure in angular distribution at √<s> _^^>72GeV which is quite different from the structure at presently available energies. It is further shown that the modified form of this model proposed by Shiohara and Yano to give a quantitative explanation of pp elastic scattering fails to explain the experimental data. Even at presently available energies, it predicts a new structure which is not consistent with experiment. Further modifications are suggested so that, at high energies, the new formula gives a very good agreement between theory and experiment in the range 0_^^<-t<12(GeV/c)^2.
