On the Polarization Tensor of n-th Rank and the Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon

A simple theorem on the photon polarization tensor of n-th rank (n even) is obtained. The proofs of it are given in two different ways : the usual perturbation theory and the LSZ formalism. The theorem is applied to the analysis of the contribution of the photon-photon interaction to the anomalous moment of the muon. A few other possible applications are discussed.
