The statistical theory of spin relaxation recently developed by us is supplemented in one important respect. In the expression for the local fluctuating field acting on a magnetic moment the neighbouring magnetic moment which causes the local field is involved. There-fore the local field cannot be regarded as a stochastic process, given apriori, in determining the stochastic temporal development of the magnetic moment, but it is necessary to determine it in a self-consistent way. This is the task undertaken in the present article. The cases that two dissimilar moments interact with each other and that two similar moments do are discussed separately. In each case the Bloch equation is obtained on suitable assumptions, and concrete expressions for the longitudinal and transversal relaxation times are obtained.
