• The concept of extended adiabatic invariance is presented. It is shown that a kind of adiabatic invariance holds between the initial and the final eigenstates of a Hamiltonian that initially and finally has a sufficiently slow explicit time dependence even though for the intermediate periods of time may have an arbitrary, rapid or slow, explicit time dependence.
