A refinement of the approximations made in I is carried out and it is shown that the contradictions concerning the behaviours of the form factor S(k) near at k=0 involved in the previous treatment can be removed. An integral equation for S(k) is solved numerically for the hard-sphere potential and for the modified Lennard-Jones potential. These solutions are compared with the experimental data. Under our approximations, the cohesive energy is shown to be expressed as a function of the sound velocity and S(k), and is calculated using the theoretical and the experimental value of S(k), respectively. The method is applied to a dilute hard-sphere system and the results are compared with those corresponding to exact one.
