Lorentz covariance is used to establish certain algebraic relations which naturally lead to Bhabha's theory and to provide a simple scheme allowing for the construction of the β algebra for a given spin. Some of the known results of the theory are reobtained in a simpler way and some new ones are presented, among which one finds a Hamiltonian associated (under certain conditions) with the wave equation for arbitrary spin. A comparison with the standard spin 1 theory is made ; in particular, it is shown that Kemmer's initial condition on the wave function is redundant. Finally, relativistic wave equations for massless particles are obtained.
