An integral representation for the Virasoro amplitude is used to split the amplitude into two terms, one of which being only meromorphic in α(s) contains the s-channel resonances while the other of which being entire in α(s) contains no s-channel resonances, dominates the first at high energies, and gives the complete Regge behaviour. A similar analysis is carried out for the Mandelstam-Veneziano amplitude with doubly spaced trajectories. Both these amplitudes are thus shown not to satisfy strong duality; the implications are briefly discussed.
