On the basis of the PCAC hypothesis and the use of a particular soft pion limit, it is shown that the baryon octet intermediate states lead to A(Σ_0^+)=B(Σ_0^+)=0,A(_-^-)=A(Σ_+^+), B(Σ_-^-)=B(Σ_+^+) provided that electromagnetic mass differences are neglected. Thus, it is inevitable to include contributions from higher excited states. A simple model in which the 1/2^- octet (nonet) and 1/2^+ octet (nonet) resonances dominate is given. The Lee-Sugawara relation is the consequence of this model.
