• A relationship is shown to exist between some elements of the group of gauge transfor mations in electrodynamics and the ten-dimensional Poincare group. This result is local in structure, that is, it holds at some specified point in the four-dimensional Minkowski space. All properties presently obtained apply to free fields as well as to interacting fields. The generators of the gauge transformations which satisfy the above relationship are derived.
