The ratio σ_L/σ_T of deep inelastic e-p scattering is considered in the model of quarks with substructure. It is shown that the discovery of a rise of the ratio starting at about W^2=10 GeV^2 in future experiments should be interpreted by an excited quark of mass about 2.8 GeV.
