In counseling the aged, the ability to understand their psychological problems with sympathy required is. This ability is formed not only by mastering the skill of counseling but also by learning the characteristics of the aged and getting familiar with the situation in which they are brought to be. Further details are stated in section 2. The aged have close relationships with their families. To resolve a psychological problem of an aged person, it is necessary to treat the whole family as a system and to deal with the problem as a problem of the system itself. Practical approaches are stated in section 3.
