Fluorescence lifetimes of the second excited singlet state of a cyanine dye, DODC, have been measured by a combination of a synchronously pumped ps (10^<-12> s) dye laser and time correlated single photon counting method. The lifetimes obtained show strong dependence on solvent viscosity.
