We compared the difference in the psychological and physiological aspects for lighting environment between the Korean and the Japanese under the same experimental conditions.Three dimensions (activity, evaluation and potency) were extracted by factor analysis in subjects from both countries. The range of the estimations for brightness was more extensive in the Korean than in the Japanese. Sensibility to light was investigated by dark adaptation. The threshold of light sensitivity to light was lower in the Korean than in the Japanese at any time in dark adaptation. Thus, both psychological and physiological evaluations proved that the Korean is more sensitive to brightness than the Japanese.
