Distribution of the nerve growth factor receptor (NGFr) and neural cell adhesion molectnle (NCAM) during the development of the mtundibular first motor of the rat were sttudied by immunohistochemical method. At early stage, the dental follicle is positive for NCAM while NGFr was expressed in the basal part of the dezttal folicle. During crown morphogenesis the dental papilla showe NGFr immunoreactivity. These results saggest that NCAM and NGFr are important factor in the formaton and development of the tooth germ.
